The 3GP file extension identifies a multimedia format created by Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). This multimedia format is normally used on Third Generation mobile phones but can also be used on some 4G and 2G mobile phones. The 3GP format is a simplified edition of MPEG-4 Part 14 (MP4) container format.
